Description
Warm, inviting, and meticulously crafted. This segmented bowl, hand-turned by a local artisan in Corydon, Iowa, celebrates the beauty of our domestic hardwood forests.
The Design: Unlike standard segmented bowls, this piece features a delightful repeating pattern of vertical Maple spacers and circular dark-wood inlays that resemble buttons or polka dots. This detail requires precision drilling and plugging during the construction process, adding a layer of complexity to the smooth, high-gloss finish.
The Wood Trio: The craftsman has selected a classic trio of woods that will age beautifully together:
Cherry: The primary warm, reddish-brown bands that will darken to a rich russet color over time.
Walnut: Provides the dark, grounding stripes and the decorative “dot” inlays.
Maple: Used as bright vertical accents to separate the segments and make the darker woods pop.
Perfect For: At approximately 9 inches wide and 6 inches deep, this bowl is robust and functional. It makes an excellent fruit bowl, a holder for yarn or craft supplies, or simply a beautiful object to admire on a coffee table.
