10-Day Refund and Returns Policy and Important Information

Important Notice Regarding Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) Items:

* It is the customer's responsibility to possess a valid Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) when purchasing VFD items.
* If a VFD item is purchased online and the customer does not have a valid VFD, the item is not eligible for a refund.
* In such cases, the customer may receive in-store credit for the purchase price of the item, minus a 10% inconvenience fee.
* The 10% inconvenience fee is calculated based on the purchase price of the returned item(s).
* The amount of sales tax paid on the original purchase will be included as part of the in-store credit.
* Sales tax will be charged on any future purchases made using the in-store credit, unless the customer is exempt and has a valid state exemption certificate on file with Chariton General Store.
* **By purchasing VFD items from Chariton General Store, customers acknowledge and agree to these terms.**

General Returns:

* Our refund and returns policy lasts 10 days from the date of purchase.
* To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused, in the same condition that it was received, and in the original packaging.
* If the item is not defective and is being returned for any other reason, the customer will receive in-store credit for the purchase price of the item, minus a 10% restocking fee.
* The 10% restocking fee is calculated based on the purchase price of the returned item(s).
* The amount of sales tax paid on the original purchase will be included as part of the in-store credit.
* Sales tax will be charged on any future purchases made using the in-store credit, unless the customer is exempt and has a valid state exemption certificate on file with Chariton General Store.

Non-Returnable Items:

* Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods cannot be returned.
* Non-returnable items may include:
    * Perishable goods (e.g., live plants, certain animal feed)
    * Custom-made or special-order items
    * Gift cards
    * Items sold as "final sale" or "as-is"

* To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
* Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.

Refunds:

* Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. Additionally, we will let you know if your refund is subject to additional fees (see section above) and/or only eligible for in-store credit (see section above).
* If you are approved for a refund (defective/damaged products that we are unable to exchange for non-defective products), your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 7-10 business days. If you are returning a defective or damaged product within the 10-day window, in the original packaging, it is unused, and we are unable to replace it with the exact product, then you will receive a full refund.
* Product recalls will be handled according to the manufacturer's recall policies. We will make reasonable efforts to notify customers of product recalls through email, website postings, and/or in-store announcements.

Product Quality:

* Chariton General Store is a reseller. We will not intentionally sell you an item that will harm you, your pets, or your livestock. Please let us know immediately if there are any concerns about any products we sell. We will work with you and help you remedy issues if they arise.

Sale Items:

* Only regular priced items may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges:

* We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at [email protected] or bring your item in to the Chariton General Store.

Gifts:

* If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
* If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver.

Shipping Returns:

* To return your product, you should return your product to: Chariton General Store, 25915 482nd St., Chariton, IA 50049.
* You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping/transportation costs for returning your item. Shipping costs from the original purchase are non-refundable, and you are responsible for return shipping costs.
* Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
* If you are returning more expensive items, you may consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Check Return Policy:

* Returned checks will incur a $30 return check fee. Checks are processed electronically.

Images:

* Images may not accurately reflect product offerings. Images are created using artificial intelligence or they are purchased using a paid subscription granting rights to use the image.

Product Descriptions:

* Product descriptions describe products accurately. If product descriptions seem inaccurate, please email [email protected] to suggest edits. Edits will be completed as deemed appropriate. The staff at Chariton General Store will notify you if and how product descriptions were changed based on your recommendations. If you do not receive a reply, please email again. We value your input.
